We can’t give someone like Shatta Wale a diplomatic passport — Ola Michael

Outspoken showbiz pundit, Ola Michael, has expressed his dissatisfaction with the former French Ambassador to Ghana, Anne Sophie Ave, over the issuing of diplomatic passports to Ghanaian musicians.

Anne Sophie Ave in a tweet demanded that artists be given diplomatic passports, claiming their remarkable efforts in promoting Ghana on the international stage compared to that of the nation’s official ambassadors.

Amongst other musicians, she mentioned Sarkodie, Stonebwoy, Black Sherif, Shatta Wale, and King Promise.

But Ola Michael making an appearance on UTV’s United Showbiz vehemently agreed with the former French Ambassador to Ghana.

The showbiz critic suggested that musicians like Shatta Wale should not be issued diplomatic passports because of their questionable and bad behavior.

Shatta Wale, he claims, has a disrespectful attitude toward everyone in Ghana, making him an undeserving contender for such an honor.

“He [Shatta Wale] has a certain character. It comes with certain responsibilities. You will not use the passport to insult someone. But look at someone like Shatta Wale, he wasn’t the only one who was mentioned but he has no sense and insults all our leaders. What sense would we get from Shatta wielding a diplomatic passport”

Shatta Wale comes on social media to insult peoples’ mothers and fathers. He is a bad example,” he said.

According to Ola Michael, musicians frequently travel abroad for their own interests and financial rewards from performances abroad rather than primarily advancing Ghana on the international stage or advocating for the interests of the nation.

“Shatta Wale performs for himself, he charges for his service so he is not special, even you Mz Gee, don’t you also deserve a diplomatic passport. Aren’t you also representing Ghana?”

Ola Michael advised the general public to pay more attention to pressing matters at home rather than pushing for musicians to be issued diplomatic passports so they could travel abroad for personal reasons.
